The beaches of southern Martinique: a paradise of sand and escape
The south of Martinique is a real invitation to get away from it all, where around forty beaches line the coast, offering picture-postcard scenery. Each beach has its own character: turquoise waters to cool off in, secluded coves to relax in peace and quiet, and long stretches of sand perfect for enjoying time with others, whether you’re on your own, as a couple or with your family.
The must-see beaches
Les Anses d’Arlet
It offers authentic charm, perfect for snorkelling enthusiasts. Discover Anse Dufour and Anse Noire, famous for their sea turtles. La Grande Anse and Le Bourg welcome you with their peaceful beaches, whilst Petite Anse charms visitors with its intimate atmosphere.
Le Diamant
Famous for its majestic Grande Anse du Diamant, where the horizon stretches out towards the Rocher du Diamant. On either side, Anse Caffard and La Cherry offer spectacular views for pleasant evening strolls.
Sainte-Luce
It welcomes you with its charming coves, such as Anse Mabouya, Corps de Garde and Fond Banane – perfect spots for a lazy afternoon listening to the sound of the waves.
Les Trois-Ilets
From the lively atmosphere of Anse Mitan or Pointe du Bout to the tranquillity of
Anse à l’Ane, they offer a seaside experience that is as varied as it is enchanting.
Sainte-Anne
It is undoubtedly the jewel of the south’s seaside resorts, with its iconic beaches: Les Salines with their pristine white sand, Cap Chevalier with its picture-perfect scenery, and Anse Michel, ideal for kitesurfing enthusiasts. For the more adventurous, Anse Trabaud and Baie des Anglais offer wild, unspoilt beaches.
Family-friendly beaches
Anse Figuier, Rivière-Pilote
Let yourself be charmed by Anse Figuier, a little corner of paradise beloved for its calm waters and shaded picnic areas. A small bay lined with coconut palms, with calm, shallow waters, ideal for children. Toilet facilities, picnic tables and a small museum are available on site.
Grande-Anse, Les Anses d’Arlet
A vast stretch of golden sand with restaurants and magnificent views. A popular spot for snorkelling right by the beach.
Corps de Garde, Sainte-Luce
A long, shaded beach with picnic areas, ideal for a full day
by the water. Easy to get to and often bustling at the weekends.
Pointe Marin, Sainte-Anne
An iconic, well-maintained white-sand beach, close to restaurants and water sports. Perfect for a relaxing day out with the family.
The wild and secluded beaches
Anse Grosse Roche, Sainte-Anne
A little-known cove, surrounded by volcanic rocks. Perfect for those seeking peace and quiet and unspoilt scenery.

Renowned for its heart-shaped rock (a natural formation), this beach offers an idyllic setting for aesthetic photos.
Anse Michel (Cap Chevalier), Sainte-Anne
A paradise for kitesurfers and nature lovers. Shallow waters protected by the coral reef, ideal for families.
Anse Grand Macabou, Marin
A vast, unspoilt beach lined with coconut palms, Anse Grand Macabou captivates visitors with its authentic charm and soothing atmosphere. As the starting point for the famous Trace des Caps trail, it is the perfect spot for hiking, picnicking or simply enjoying the magnificent natural scenery overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Anse Meunier (Cap Chevalier), Sainte-Anne
A quiet, more secluded extension of Les Salines beach. Crystal-clear sea, palm trees and a ‘end-of-the-world’ atmosphere.
Did you know?
The name ‘Moustique’ comes from the presence of mosquitoes in the late afternoon. We recommend you bring some natural insect repellent so they don’t give you too ‘warm’ a welcome!
Enjoy yourself in complete safety
Although peaceful, these beaches are not lifeguarded and some areas can be dangerous due to sea currents: caution is therefore essential. Also watch out for mancenilla trees, which are highly poisonous and recognisable by their small green fruits; any contact can cause severe burns, and they are sometimes marked with a red circle on the trunk. Finally, the occasional presence of Sargassum seaweed, despite the nuisance it causes, highlights an environmental imbalance and serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
