L’Etang des Salines
Sainte-Anne
A beautiful lagoon worth visiting
The Salines Pond, located at the southern tip of Martinique, is a remarkable yet fragile protected wetland. Surrounded by dry forest, savanna, and mangroves, it has held Ramsar status since September 15, 2008.
To help visitors better understand how this area functions, the Coastal Conservation Agency has established an observatory where you can watch migratory birds, as well as a boardwalk featuring interactive, educational panels focused on the local flora and fauna. This wetland has been officially designated as a protected area since August 2013.
