Health and care
Martinique has high-quality healthcare facilities, equivalent to those in mainland France.
- For consultations, the rates are the same as those charged in mainland France
- The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid in Martinique for French and European nationals
- For visitors from outside the European Union, travel insurance is strongly recommended before departure
Tips before you set off
- Consult your GP for a personalised vaccination schedule
- Make sure you have an effective mosquito repellent
- Make sure you bring enough of your prescriptions and medicines with you
- Sun protection with an SPF of 50+ is essential
There are pharmacies in every town in southern Martinique. Outside opening hours, an on-call pharmacy service is available; please ask at your accommodation or check the notices displayed in pharmacies.
